Ohio Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy (OSHCA)
Who We Are
The Ohio Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy, commonly known as OSHCA, has over 100 members across the state, our mission is to promote the advancement of health care consumer advocacy by providing leadership, education and support to our membership and by serving as a resource to professionals and consumers across the healthcare continuum. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and have many different job titles. We are patient advocates, ombudsmen, patient representatives, guest relations coordinators, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and others who are currently employed in a consumer advocacy role. Healthcare Consumer Advocates seek to assure the rights and needs of consumers are met and met well in today’s dynamic healthcare environment.
OSCHA Objectives Are To:
- Exchange information, ideas, and experiences through the networking opportunities the society provides.
- Enhance the healthcare consumer advocate’s skill as liaison between the consumer and healthcare providers.
- Promote continuing education in order to improve healthcare services, through bi-annual District meetings and our fantastic annual Fall Conference.
- Increase community awareness regarding patient rights and consumer advocacy in healthcare.
